Bullock teams were a vital ingredient to life at Mangrove Creek, hauling in supplies, hauling out timber for the logging industry and for many other tasks around a farming community. This photo depicts a bullock team ready for work at Fairview.
Welcome
Fairview Homestead
Fairview is a heritage-listed traditional Australian homestead on Ten Mile Hollow Road at Mangrove Creek on the Central Coast. Fairview was built over 100 years ago and is a historically significant landmark. Expert heritage reports have confirmed that Fairview “is part of a rare remaining example of an early settlement complex” with “exceptional” heritage significance for the region (2014 & 2025 Heritage Reports).
Please support our mission to save Fairview Homestead:
SIGN our PETITION to SAVE FAIRVIEW from DEMOLITION
After signing the petition, consider joining the Association. The more people show they care about heritage, the harder it becomes for Council to ignore the issue or to demolish our shared heritage. Membership is only $5 and we are growing rapidly as people from the Central Coast and beyond join to support the cause.
What is the Fairview Homestead Association?
The Fairview Homestead Association was formed in 2007 and incorporated as a charity in 2012. Our purpose is to protect Fairview from demolition and restoring it to a safe standard, so that it can again become an asset for the people of the Central Coast. The Association is a not-for-profit charity, managed by a Committee of dedicated volunteers. Its members, the ‘Friends of Fairview’, are a community of local residents, descendants of the families who once lived and worked the land at Mangrove Creek as well as historians and individuals interested in the heritage of the Valley.
What do we want to do?
Fairview is strategically located at the junction of ancient Darkiñung trading paths amidst some of the region’s most spectacular natural landscapes. It lies at the heart of existing walking trails exploring indigenous heritage, local heritage, convict heritage and the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Great North Road.
We hope to persuade Council to work with us to develop Fairview into an environmentally low-impact heritage and landscape reserve that showcases its natural beauty, indigenous heritage and the critical part the region played in the settlement of the region. Fairview could be a walker’s cabin, eco-tourism destination, an artists haven, a health retreat for those needing a break from the stress of modern life or a ranger station.
Backed by a growing community of passionate supporters, Fairview’s future can align perfectly with Council’s goals for eco-tourism, job creation, heritage preservation, community engagement and wellbeing.
